✦What it is

Every Aletheia resource is being translated and culturally adapted for young people and families who speak languages other than English at home. We work in English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic and Hindi, with more languages to come.

✦Why it matters

Many of the young people we work with are the family’s translator at the doctor’s, or grew up in homes where health was rarely talked about. When information only exists in English, whole families miss out, and cultural shame stays unspoken. Translation alone isn’t enough, so we adapt examples and wording so they feel right in each community.

✦How it works

  1. Choose the resources young people and families need most.
  2. A bilingual volunteer translates it.
  3. A second bilingual volunteer checks the translation.
  4. Young people from that language community test it.
  5. We publish it free to download and share it through community partners.

In Australia, you can ask for a free interpreter at medical appointments.

✦Who it’s for

Young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

✦Where it’s at

As of 4 October 2026, preliminary translations of the Voice Pack (April 2026 edition), the Self-Advocacy Journal and the Health Navigator are complete in Hindi, Arabic, Chinese and Vietnamese. Our bilingual volunteers are reviewing every line now, and the finished versions will be ready to download by Monday 12 October. See the translation progress above.
