✦What it is
Small, facilitated conversations where young people talk openly about the health issues that matter to them, such as cultural shame, periods, mental health, identity and being dismissed by the health system. Unlike a workshop, there’s no lesson plan: young people set the agenda and we listen.
✦Why it matters
Some of the most important things young people know about health never get said, because no one asks or the room doesn’t feel safe. Roundtables are the room. What’s shared shapes what Aletheia makes next, and gives decision-makers an honest picture of what young people face.
✦How a roundtable runs
- Young people choose the theme (or we bring a question a partner wants answered).
- We agree ground rules together: confidentiality, respect, pass any time.
- A youth facilitator guides an open conversation, sometimes with a guest leader or practitioner listening in.
- Themes are recorded anonymously, with consent.
- We share back what we heard, and what we’ll do with it.
✦Who it’s for
Young people aged 14 to 25, often from CALD and LGBTQIA+ communities, and organisations who want to hear from them directly. Every roundtable follows our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy.
✦Where it’s at
Roundtables are run by Aletheia and announced through our channels.
Young people can join the next roundtable when it’s announced on @aletheia.au. Organisations can co-host one, or bring a question to young people, through the Partnership & Sponsorship Enquiry form.
